My paintings are meant to take the viewer to an inviting and peaceful place, on a mini vacation, so to speak; somewhere they'd like to picture themselves even for a few minutes.

Watercolor being a spontaneous medium with a mind of its own demands a cross between letting go to allow it to work its wonders, and mastering the control when needed. I use layers of transparent watercolors to overstate the intensity of cast shadows and light sources. The reference materials used for my pieces are composites of sketches and photos taken on various trips to Europe and around the US. I like to take my subject beyond the actual and add my own energy of space and light.

I have several ongoing series including Botanicals with an up-close explosive view, pastoral landscapes, European street scenes and a new one in the making.

I hope you enjoy them as much as I take comfort in the process of producing them.
