"Purple Cluster"

Purples and greens at their finest. This collection of blooms was a knock-out combination waiting to be taken home - so I did.

"White Dahlia"

A Dahlia in the bright sunlight looking much like a magnolia with its majestic look of purity and importance. The shadows in the background peeking out now and again to be noticed.

"Matilija Poppies"

This vine is incredible. The flowers are at least six inches wide and tissue paper thin - they actually seem to float. These were completely covering an entrance to a wonderful front yard.

"Poppy on the Fence"

These poppies were peeking out around a neighbor's fence. I liked the contrast of bright colors, luscious greenery and the crisp angular white slates of the fence.

"Beefstake Tomato"

These were behind a fence looking ripe enough to taste. The huge fruits, bamboo stake and zinnias; a ready-made still life.

"Shadows"

Dinner brought me to a parking spot facing the west in Laguna Beach. The foliage between the fence was literally lit up from behind. The Canna leaves looked on fire; the purples and greens luminous.

"Welcome Home"

One of the unpaved streets in Manhattan Beach with this picture book house stopped me in my tracks. The flowers pouring out of the yard. The gate was open waiting for visitors. Definitely a "welcome to our house" feel.

"Trumpet Lily"

The fire orange blossoms certainly do call attention to this none too shy beauty. It reaches out from the dense background to grab you.

"Secret Garden"

Garden gates have always appealed to me. This one with its overgrown entrance looks so inviting but yet a little secretive.

"Cascade"

The colors in this bunch of blooms were a combination of my most favorite hues... This family of purple shades is a magnet to me.

"Four O'Clock Roses"

These beauties are from my garden. I love roses and their multi-Iayered petals. The translucent colors were achieved by photographing lying on the ground shooting up into the four o'clock light. Hence the name.

"Pink Magnolia"

A beautiful specimen at a nursery where they couldn't quite figure out why I was photographing instead of buying.

"Fruit Stand"

The "Somas Fruit Stand" in Camarillo, California is the retail outlet for one of the largest fruit growers and distributors in the area. This stand has been on the same corner for many years and a favorite stop-off for locals on their way home.
